BTCC Predictions 2018 - Brands GP
Hello people!
Welcome to the 2018 BTCC.net forum predictions championship. I know I said I'd stand down but hey, things have changed and I have a bit of time to run it so here we go.
I've made some changes for 2018, which I'll explain as I go through it all. For the finale, there is a bonus round worth a total of 80 points which I will explain at the end.
With a full grid of 32 cars, 19 previous race winners and 5 champions on the grid, it'll be a good season ahead.
The basic format is the same as 2017, predicting the pole driver and results of the 3 races, however for 2018 it won't be the top 3 to predict but the top 5, but there is no Jack Sears Trophy part this season.
So the format;
Pole
Race 1;
1
2
3
4
5
FL
Race 2;
1
2
3
4
5
FL
Race 3;
Reverse grid draw;
Reverse Grid Pole;
1
2
3
4
5
FL
Bonus Round;
Overall Champion -
2nd -
3rd -
Independant Champion -
The points scoring for 2018 is;
Race 1 Pole; 12 Points
Races 1, 2 & 3;
P1 - 30 Points
P2 - 26 Points
P3 - 22 Points
P4 - 20 Points
P5 - 18 Points
FL - 15 Points
Reverse Grid number; 10 Points
Reverse Grid Driver; 15 Points
If you get both position and driver correct, it'll be 30 points.
For race 1 only, if you predict Pole, Winner and FL correctly, you'll score 70 Points, compared to the 57 it would be. So if you predicted Turkington to get Pole, win R1 and FL, you'll score 70 points but it would be 42 Points if he got pole and the win but another driver got FL.
Half points will be awarded if you guess a driver correctly but in the wrong position - aka you predict Rob Austin to finish P2 but he finishes P3, you'll score 11 Points for P3. The half points will be for the position the driver finishes in.
The bonus round - I'd like you to predict the top 3 come round 30 of the Championship, plus who will finish the season as the Independent Champion. The points available for this is a maximum of 80, split down like this;
Overall Champion - 30 Points
P2 - 15 Points
P3 - 10 Points
Independent Champion - 25 Points
The total possible score for a weekend will be 400 Points, with the double points for the main predictions and the 80 in the bonus round.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask and I'll answer.
Entries must be in by 9am of the Saturday of the race weekend - any entries after that but before qualifying will be accepted at my discresion but subject to a 10% points deduction as a late entry ballast. Anything entered after the start of qualifying won't be accepted.
Good luck all!

Hello people!
Welcome to the final results post of the 2018 BTCC.net forum predictions, for the Brands Hatch GP finale results.
How have we all been coping with no BTCC to watch since the end of September?
With a double win for Dan Cammish - taking the total amount of winners for the season to 17 - and another Ash Sutton win, Colin Turkington secured the title despite finishing a lowly 22 in the 29th round of the season.
Anyway, who top scored within the forumers for the Brands GP rounds?
- Clio172ron - 306 Points
- Motormouth_33 - 282 Points
- Prm666 - 262 Points
- Spanneredmonkey - 256 Points
- Cari Lou - 244 Points
- Tomabigbtccfan - 234 Points
- Vanilla_Astra - 228 Points
- BTCCROCKS - 184 Points
So it is Clio172ron who finishes the Brands GP weekend as the top scorer, with Motormouth_33 close behind in second.
So how have the Championship positions been affected by the Brands GP results?
- Clio172ron - 1329 Points
- Motormouth_33 - 1241 Points
- Prm666 - 1207 Points
- Tomabigbtccfan - 1155 Points
- Vanilla_Astra - 1119 Points
- Spanneredmonkey - 1082 Points
- Cari Lou - 1011 Points
- BTCCROCKS - 967 Points
- Swag - 406 Points
- PiesJohn13 - 97 Points
So congratulations to our 2018 Champion, Clio172ron, who bounced back from his 2017 disappointment to claim this years title. Congratulations to Motormouth_33 and Prm666 who rounded out the top 3.
Thank you for all your support in 2018, I'll see where I'm at closer to the time for a 2019 version.
Enjoy the off season, I might create a couple of off season quizzes to go over the 2018 campaign.
Cheers!
