    2018, Rumours, Announcements, Grid etc.

(Not sure if this Forum is even popular enough for this anymore but whatever.. Let's go)

and so the curtain closes on another season of BTCC.. The 2017 Season officially goes into the history books.

188 days from now it all begins again.

Who will be staying?, who will be going?, Who will be moving?

Wonder if any big surprises await us between now and April 7th-8th?

What we do know ofcourse is that Rob Austin and Handy Motorsport will be swapping their Toyota for an Alfa Romeo.

When things get announced, feel free to share here

I heard that Kia are joining, or Volvo, or Jaguar, with maybe James Thompson or Fabrizio Giovanardi driving.

And as usual, I can't say where I heard it, but I wrote it on the internet, so it has to be true!
    @psq43 , rather obviously.

Honda/Team Dynamics switch to the new Civic Type-R?
BMW/WSR switch to the 3 series? The 1 series is becoming one of the older NGTC cars

I don't think Plato will return unless it can be guaranteed he will have twice the boost of everyone else. Otherwise its just not fair.

I'll throw this lot in the pot for discussion..........

Scaled back BMR/888 teams or possibly none at all!

JP won't be involved with either of the above, if they are on the grid.

Eurotech will get a 3rd TBL (again).

Welch won't return & will enter TCR.

We'll see at least one new team or a returning team on the grid.

I also heard the Kia and Volvo rumours, I think its Support Our Paras with a works Volvo outfit, with Chris James doing the Kia operation. I think Andy Neate is in the running for the drives too?

I could see that one being a reality to be honest. He was by far the more experienced between him and Proctor, and he was somewhat overshadowed by his rookie teammate. Not only that, but look at how well Huff did filling in for him. It would be a shame to lose him again, but I wouldn't be entirely surprised if we see someone else sharing a garage with Proctor next year.

Funnily enough I was having this exact conversation with someone at work today. I think the season Plato has had will push him into next year because he will feel he has something to prove, but I also think that if he has a similarly bad year again that will be the last we see of him on the grid.
    Sick of censorship.

Oh, that's old hat. I've heard that Aixam are so impressed with the Citroen success in WTCC that they'll be creating a model to enter BTCC as a manufacturer.

Like you, I can't say where exactly I heard it but one of the voices in my head whispered it so it's really, really true, innit.

    Guesswork....

    What I'd like to see....

BMR/Scooby - back with just 2 cars - Sutton and Plato
    BMW/WSR - no change
888/MG - hopefully dropping the MG
Dynamics/Honda - the new Civic is ugly as sin, the Type R more so. Time for a change (and drop Matt Simpson)
Eurotech/Honda - too much of a threat to Dynamics these days, reckon they will no longer be assisted. Lacking the depth of talent to build their own car I reckon they will do a Father & Son crack at TCR UK.
Handy/Speedworks - Hopefully join forces to build & run 2x Alfas for Tingram and Austin.
Cicely/Laser - Join Forces, tempt Merc UK to lend a bit of factory support
PMR - Solid first year - keep it going - likely not to see Chilton back though
BTC/Norlin - Chevy has had it - reckon they should purchase 2x scoobies

Someone on Sunday evening showed me a Twitter post from Mike Bushell implying that he would be up for another shot at BTCC.
